You then enter your details and, of course, turn up on the day. We will have members present to welcome you and to introduce you to the game.

We will be open on Friday 23rd, from 6pm to 8pm; Sunday 25th, from 2pm to 4pm and on Monday 26th from 2pm to 4pm. All sessions are free of charge; and all equipment and tuition is provided for free too. More details to follow. Alongside many clubs who will be opening their greens for free, Downton Bowling Club wll also be taking part – so why not give bowls a go in Downton? if you can’t make these dates, try our Taster Sessions or one of our Club Sessions instead.

We believe everybody should realise the joy and benefit of playing sport, and there are so many reasons why Bowls should be the game that you consider. Here are our top 5 reasons to give bowls a try:

  • Playing bowls is very doable – Whatever your physique, bowls is a sport for everybody, and it will help improve your fitness levels and mental wellbeing.
  • Bowls is not expensive – To get going you don’t need lots of new kit at the start. At Downton, we will put on taster sessions for free. Even when you get the bug, a set of bowls can be bought for around £50 and we have special introductory rates for your first year’s membership.
  • After football, bowls has the second highest number of clubs in the country – With so many places to play, it’ll take no time at all to find and get to a bowls club close to your home.
  • Compared to most sports, age, ability and gender differences have less of an effect on a game of bowls – So it’s a perfect sport to spend time and enjoy a bit of friendly competition with your family and friends.
  • Bowls clubs are sociable places full of people looking to have fun – This makes bowls a great way to relax, make new friends and feel part of your local community.
